DAY 1 – JOHANNESBURG – KRUGER NATIONAL PARK

This morning you will be collected from your hotel, heading east to the Northern Sabi Sands region. High tea will be served at your safari lodge followed by an afternoon open vehicle game drive in the world famous Kruger National Park, unrivalled in its diversity of flora and fauna. Spend the afternoon searching for the Big Five. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

DAY 2 – KRUGER NATIONAL PARK

Early morning tea & coffee will be served before entering the Park by open vehicle game drive. Your ranger will endeavour to spoil you with sightings of the “Big Five”, general game and prolific bird life.  Return to the lodge for breakfast. Relax at the lodge until lunch time, followed by high tea in the afternoon, after which you’ll join an open vehicle game drive for a further opportunity of game viewing.

Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

DAY 3 – KRUGER NATIONAL PARK – JOHANNESBURG

Enjoy an early morning breakfast before starting the return journey to Johannesburg.

Arrive in Johannesburg in the early evening at approximately 18h30 (unescorted) where the tour ends on arrival.

 

BOTSWANA HIGHLIGHTS: 6 days/5 nights

Itinerary:

DAY 1 – MAUN (UNESCORTED)

On arrival at Maun airport you’ll be met and transferred to the Island Safari Lodge.

The lodge has been part of the landscape in Maun, Botswana since 1973, when it was established by the legendary Tony Cox. With a restaurant that serves “Elephant’s Leg” (a delicious lamb shank) as well as a bar with a climbing pole that invites the brave to scale it, it is no wonder that the Island Safari Lodge is popular among locals and tourist on their way to or from the Okavango Delta.

The Island Safari Lodge overlooks the Thamalakane River and is well-known for its mokoro safaris. Huge shade trees are in abundance on the grounds of the Island Safari Lodge and beyond, so birdwatchers can be sure of spotting a rich variety of bird species. The Lodge has a number of expert guides that regular guide birding walks. You can hire bicycles from the reception at Island Safari Lodge, or scenic flights over the Okavango Delta can be arranged (optional & for own account). Game viewing and fishing trips into the Okavango Delta are also available as optional excursions (for own account).

DAY 2 – MAUN

Today you’ll have the opportunity to join an exciting mokoro (dugout canoe) trip. Mokoro trips have become the popular way for travelers to experience the tranquility of the Okavango Delta. Mokoro trips are based on the traditional Bayei method of travelling through the flood plains of the Okavango Delta.

On one of the larger islands you will enjoy lunch and a guided walk. There is the possibility of seeing large herds of red lechwe bounding through the water and passing elephants feeding amongst the lush wetland vegetation.

After a hearty lunch and walk, you will make your way back to the Mokoro station where the vehicle will be waiting to transfer you back to the lodge. (BL)

DAY 3 – NATA

After breakfast, you will continue to your next destination, Nata Lodge, an oasis set amongst the Mokolwane palms on the edge of the pans. It is ideally situated to the entrance to the Nata Sanctuary and is just off the main road 10km from the village.

This afternoon you will join a salt pan excursion. The area incorporates a multitude of salt pans and vast grass plains dotted by palm islands that form the Great Makgadikagidi which compromises the largest area of salt pans in the world covering some 3 7000sq km in overall extent. It is the last vestiges of Africa’s largest inland sea and exudes an atmosphere of antiquity and mystery.

The Nata River delta feeds the Sau Pan in the Nata Sanctuary and forms the breeding ground for a host of water birds including pelicans and flamingo in their thousands, transforming the shoe line into a pink haze blending into the western sky. (B)

DAY 4 – CHOBE

After breakfast you will be transferred to Mowana Safari Lodge near the Chobe Game Reserve.

Mowana Safari Lodge lies on the banks of the Chobe River, where four African countries – Botswana, Zambia, Namibia and Zimbabwe – meet. This afternoon you will have the opportunity to join an afternoon game cruise. The Chobe Game Reserve is famous for its enormous elephant population – it is said that 45 000of these interesting creatures roam the plains of Chobe. They share almost 10 000sq km with lion, leopard, giraffe, cheetah, buffalo, approximately 450 bird species, as well as puku and Chobe bushbuck, which are indigenous to Chobe National Park. (BD)

DAY 5 – CHOBE

This morning you can enjoy an early morning game drive in the Chobe National Park. You’ll have the opportunity to search for elephant, hippo, buffalo, zebra, hyena, red lechwe, crocodile, sable antelope and impala. Also keep a lookout for leopard, cheetah, wild dog, roan antelope, serval, bat-eared fox, puku and bushbuck.  In the afternoon you can enjoy an optional (for own account), game cruise on the Chobe river. This unique and relaxing way of game viewing will allow you to view the great African wildlife from a different point of view. (BD)

DAY 6 – CHOBE

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Kasane Airport for your onward flight. (B)

 

ZIMBABWE VICTORIA FALLS FLY IN TOUR 3 days/2 nights

Travel via the scenic Spreetshoogte Pass (or Kuiseb Canyon) and Solitaire to a comfortable lodge bordering the Namib Desert. DAY 2 – NAMIB DESERT

Early morning departure for your Sossusvlei excursion. You have the opportunity to climb some of the highest sand dunes in the world; admire the picturesque scenery and the fauna and flora of the desert. Visit the rugged Sesriem Canyon before returning to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon join a guided nature drive to the ‘marble mountain’ (drinks for own account) or relax with a sundowner (for own account) on the verandah and enjoy a spectacular sunset at the lodge.

DAY 3 – NAMIB DESERT – WINDHOEK / SWAKOPMUND
